Straeon Acting Studios will be in Ireland for the first time! Straeon means stories, and Ireland is the heart of storytelling.

 

We couldn't be any more excited to be bringing over our workshop to the land of the brave storytellers. Our Scene Study class is all about preparing you for the real deal! We keep classes as close to the work environment as we possibly can, and our coaching is tailored to your needs to ensure you keep growing as an actor throughout your career. There's only one way to become an extraordinary storyteller, and that involves practice, lots of it! Think of Straeon as a gym for actors and the coaches as your personal trainers! We'll guide you through your unique journey as an actor. We'll protect what's already working for you, and we'll strengthen what needs work. We're about helping you find your own method. We don't waste your time with stuff you don't need.  Each one of you has something unique to offer, and it's crucial that you share it with the world. We'd be honored if you let us be a part of your journey!

How we roll!

With intensity! We'll be fully immersed in storytelling for five days from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM at The Pearse Centre, 27 Pearse St Dublin.

Dates: 

July 28th - Meet and Greet at the famous International Bar on Wicklow Street at 6 pm.

​

July 29th - Day 1. The basics. We'll prep our instruments (body, voice, and soul) for an intense acting week. We'll also dive into readings in preparation for scene work.

​

July 30rd - Day 2. The real fun beings! First day of scene work. What we call 'first works' are close to a camera rehearsal on a set. You'll present your first scene and get some feedback.

​

July 31st - Day 3. Buckle your belts! Second day of scene work. This time around, we'll explore more in-depth throughout several different takes. Prepare for an intense acting workout!

 

August 1st - Day 4. We start again with an entirely new scene and scene partner.

​

August 2nd. Day 5. We finalized our second works!

- Scenes and scene partners are assigned by the coach.

- Actors are responsible for props and costumes. 

​

* All levels are welcome. That's going to be your experience on a real set, and you must learn to work with everyone.

ARE YOU A WRITER, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER OR JUST IN LOVE WITH STORY TELLING?

The acting process can be a little bit of a mystery if you've never been in front of the camera, or an audience. Having the right relationship with the actors is paramount. Actors must be extraordinarily courageous and vulnerable to find the hero's journey, and you can make their lives a lot easier if you understand their process. Watch Jock MacDonald work with the actors on July 31st and August 2nd. You'll experience the working relationship with the actors as you've never seen before. We won't promise you won't want to jump in and do some scenes, but you'll learn a great deal on how to work with actors. Only 60 EUR for both days.
